SUMMER CAMP DIRECTOR

Job Title: Summer Camp Program Director

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Pay Rate: $11.00-$13.00/Hr

Status: Part Time Seasonal Department: Youth & Family Services

POSITION SUMMARY:

Support the work of the Y to strengthen our communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Develops, organizes and implements high-quality YMCA summer camp program(s). Leads team of staff in providing safe, fun, and engaging daily activities for children and families.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.Creates and schedules all camp sessions and activities. Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.

2.Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.

3.Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs staff and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance.Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.

4.Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations. May review and process program scholarship applications.

5.Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.

6.Assists Youth Director in developing summer camp budget. Monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives. Purchases and maintains supplies for camp activities.

7.Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation
in programs. Maintains accurate records of staff certifications.

8.Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and events. Secures facilities and admission for day camp field trips and events. Secures and monitors transportation for field trips.

9.Monitors daily camp operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations. Become knowledgeable of emergency procedures, including tornado and fire procedures for the school site. Assist Director in scheduling and supervising required drills for staff.

10.Attends staff meetings and required trainings. Plans and executes monthly staff meetings for assistants and counselors.

11.Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.

12.Performs other duties as assigned.

SCHOOL AGE CHILD CARE SUPERVISOR VIGO COUNTY

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Assists Youth and Family Services Director in all aspects of SACC Program and supervision of assigned staff and sites. Leads staff team in before and after school care at assigned elementary school sites within Vigo County. Ensures safe, fun, engaging environment for staff, participants and families.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.Manages, coordinates, and maintains each elementary school site assigned, including oversight of planning of appropriate activities such as homework supervision, snack, games, crafts, and value development.

2. Manages, trains, supervises, schedules, and evaluates staff.

3. Ensures site supplies are maintained and requests purchases as necessary. Maintains and provides oversight for upkeep of assigned sites and equipment, including keeping equipment in safe and sound order. Oversight of daily cleanliness and safety of the site through site counselors. Ensures safety hazards are corrected.

4. Communicates with Director on issues of the site to ensure the program is of highest quality.

5. Maintains positive public relations and clear communications with parents, staff, volunteers, and school personnel. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.

6. Maintains and updates records and reports and collects program fees.

7. Follow school procedures to safeguard the health and safety of the children in the SACC program, which include but are not limited to handwashing, sanitary measures, playground safety rules, and rules regarding the use of supplies and equipment. Become knowledgeable of emergency procedures, including tornado and fire procedures for the school site. Assist Director in scheduling and supervising required drills for staff.

8. Attends staff meetings and required trainings. Plans meetings with team on an as needed basis.

9. Assists in YMCA fund raising events, including but not limited to the Annual Campaign.

10.Should be available during most program hours of operation.

11.Performs other duties as assigned.

WELLNESS CENTER ATTENDANT

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Interacts with new and existing members to help them in achieving their health and well-being goals. Creates a welcoming environment for all members of all backgrounds and abilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Coaches members in support of their desired behavior change. Regularly checks on members’ progress in meeting personal and program goals.
  • Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
  • Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA. Introduces new members to group exercise communities based their health and well-being goals.
  • Utilizes tools and information for the purpose of increasing member knowledge of wellness as well as wellness programs provided through the YMCA (handouts, schedules, etc.).
  • May conduct post-enrollment interviews to understand new members’ definition of well-being, personal goals, cultural background, healthcare needs, diverse abilities and interests and develops plans to meet their individual needs.
  • Maintains and cleans equipment according to the schedule or as requested by supervisor.
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
  • Attends all staff meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SACC Counselor Clay/Vigo County

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y by serving community members through providing competent child care before and after school at local elementary schools.

Counselors provide snack, homework help and support, as well as supervised and structured play time, both inside and outside, for the children in the program.

Counselors also work as a team to ensure the children’s safety by working with parents and children to instill YMCA Core Values of Respect, Responsibility, Caring, and Honesty. Must have ability to build trust, rapport, and relationships with children and their parents.

Applicants must be available from 2:00-6:00pm. Some high school education required; experience in child care and youth development is a plus.

Must be able to provide transportation to and from work.

Membership Representative (Front Desk Staff) Clay/Vigo County

Position Summary: Delivers excellent services to all members and guests. Responds to member and guest needs, promotes memberships and programs.

Essential Functions:
1. Provides excellent service to members and guests in the facility and on the phone, contributing to member retention.
2. Builds relationships with members.
3. Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.

Qualifications:
1. Problem solving skills.

The YMCA is looking for a group exercise instructor to provide enjoyable, high quality, and safe group exercise classes for YMCA youth members.

Essential Functions

Reports any accidents, concerns, or equipment troubles to supervisor immediately.
Ensures that all equipment and supplies needed for class are available prior to the start of class

Makes sure all participants are treating equipment properly to prevent damage, accidents, spread of disease.
Attends all required trainings and meetings.
Interacts with class participants before and after class to foster relationships with and between participants

Certifications and Other Qualifications
YMCA, MOSSA. ACE, ASFA or ACSM Group Fitness Instructor Certification required upon hire.
Current CPR certification and basic first aid training.
Must be available to teach at least one class per week.
Experience is a plus.
